Your circular June 27, 7 p.m. The Minister of Foreign Affairs in interview this afternoon stated that El Salvador is grateful to the United States for taking the initiative in this step towards mutual defense and cooperation, and would welcome the enactment of the resolution. The Minister of Foreign Affairs will discuss the subject with the President who he believes entertains similar sentiments [Page 4] and will endeavor to obtain his consent to taking advantage of the provision of the resolution when and if the occasion therefor arises.
