150. Department’s 83, June 25, noon, and previous telegrams. Informal suggestion as on my own initiative concerning invitation to Alden to visit open and unopened ports of the Japanese Mandated Islands was made today to the Minister for Foreign Affairs along the lines envisaged in the telegraphic correspondence.
The Minister indicated marked interest in the situation which I described but professed to know nothing whatever about the subject. He said that he would see what could be done and would endeavor to let me know the result before July 20.
