Memorandum

In connection with the Memorandum of the Japanese Embassy, dated September 19, 1936, with regard to the question of the additional war profits taxes asserted by the United States Government against the three Japanese shipping companies, it is understood that at the time of a satisfactory settlement of the issue the United States Treasury Bonds amounting to $120,000 which were deposited by the Toyo Kisen Kaisha with the United States Government on April 30, 1934 will be returned to the company together with the interest thereof, and that the amount of $65,756 paid by the Osaka Shosen Kaisha to the United States Government in excess of the assessment for the year 1920 will be refunded to the said company.
