The Department of State to the British Embassy

Memorandum

With reference to the British Embassy’s confidential aide-mémoire of June 7, 1935, it is noted that the British Government has selected Sir Frederick Leith-Ross, K. C. B., K. C. M. G., Chief Economic Adviser to the British Government, to be attached to the British Ambassador at Peiping as temporary financial adviser and that Sir Frederick, accompanied by his assistant, Mr. E. Hall Patch, will leave England at the beginning of August.

With reference to the hope of the British Government that the American Government will take similar action with regard to the appointment of a financial expert, it may be stated that this subject is continuing to receive consideration by the American Government and that, upon completion of such consideration, the American Government will expect to inform the British Government of the decision reached.
