5. Your No. 9, January 5, noon.29 According to information furnished the Department, the American Chinese Trade Council, New York, proposes to send to China during the spring of 1935 an unofficial American economic mission for the purpose of studying the possibility of increasing Sino-American trade and the problems therein involved. The Department will inform the Legation and consular officers in China in regard to the personnel and plans of the mission as soon as this information is available.
