Original Spanish Draft Note Regarding the Labeling of Sherry
Importations into the territories and possessions of the United States of America of wines designated in any way by such words as “Jerez”, “Sherry”, “Xéres” shall be accompanied by a certificate issued by the proper Spanish authorities attesting that such wines are the product of Spain or the zone of growth and production entitled to the use of such denominations and protected by the laws and regulations of the Spanish Government.
The said certificate will be required even when on the bottles or containers of same the true origin of the product is mentioned or when the words “Jerez”, “Sherry” or “Xéres” are accompanied by words such as “kind”, “type”, “manner”, “rival”, “make” or any other specific regional indication or other.
