71. The Department is today acknowledging without comment the receipt of the following communication from the Greek Minister dated November 5: [Page 505]
“By direction of the Royal Government of Greece, I have the honor to bring to your knowledge that, following the confirmation of the resolution of the National Assembly given by the Greek people through their plebiscite of last Sunday, regarding the restoration of the Constitutional Monarchy, His Majesty King George II will return to Greece shortly to assume his royal duties.”
As soon as the Department is officially notified that the King has assumed his duties new letters of credence will be sent to you for presentation if and when similar action is taken by your British and French colleagues.
