Department’s 385, October 10, 1934, 8 p.m.73 Please designate Johnson74 or other member of your staff to act as American representative at meeting of Governing body of High Commission for German refugees to open in London July 17 in lieu of Chamberlain who will not be present. In case technical questions involving immigration should be raised you may call on a competent member of the consulate general. This Government has no objection in principle to concentration of general refugee work under League. No other instructions believed necessary.
