169. Your 304, July 8, 5 p.m. A telegram dated July 5 from our Embassy at Berlin31 requested that we inform the Navy Department that the Assistant Naval Attaché was mailing the German construction program “communicated, in strict confidence to Washington Treaty Powers”. The telegram then lists the numbers, tonnage and gun calibre of vessels under construction or to be laid down in 1935. This is the only information we have received on the subject from Germany or any other country.
