The Chargé in the United Kingdom (Atherton) to the Secretary of State
No. 1635
London, August 16,
1935.
[Received August 23.]
[Received August 23.]
Sir: I have the honor to refer to the Department’s instruction No. 938 of August 2, 1935, concerning the Roerich Pact and directing the Embassy to inquire orally at the Foreign Office the view with which it is disposed to regard this Convention.
In reply to an inquiry in the sense of the Department’s instruction, the Foreign Office said that they had been made aware of the Pact and, after considering it, do not feel at present that it is necessary for Great Britain to accede.
Respectfully yours,
Ray Atherton
