The Ambassador in Germany (Dodd) to the Secretary of State
[Received June 30—1:55 p.m.]
124. Some outbreaks of unruly elements were made in Munich yesterday. Last night Hitler arrived after conference with Goering at the Krupp works took charge of the S.A. forces and reestablished order. Today at 1 o’clock Goering took charge of the S.A. offices in Berlin which had been under the direction of the recalcitrant Roehm. Several arrests were made and a few S.A. officials committed suicide and former Chancellor Schleicher has been killed. Reports indicate that movements have been made in other cities. Proclamation from Hitler calling on all S.A. troops to give perfect obedience to the new commander Lutze has been issued. “With complete obedience and submitting to perfect discipline you must help us create and develop the new German race.”
