Japanese Consul General has just informed me that the Chinese has [have] begun attack on the Japanese positions. Chinese Mayor [Page 153] reports that Japanese started attacking at 11:30. Truce no longer obtains. Rush supplemental naval forces.
Repeated to the Legation and Nanking.
