39. [Paraphrase]. Yesterday in private audience King Alexander personally requested me to send the following message to President Hoover regarding the moratorium proposal: [End paraphrase].
“I ask President Hoover and his advisers to consider the lamentable situation in which Yugoslavia would be placed in view of her existing financial obligations if our country should lose 888,000,000 dinars during the coming year according to the terms of the moratorium. I therefore earnestly request President Hoover to do his utmost to help us in our present dilemma of which I can see no other solution.”
