The Acting Secretary of State to the Ambassador in France (Herrick)

Washington, October 14, 1924—6 p.m.

332. For Logan. L–132. French Embassy has communicated informally following message received from French Government:

“The British Government proposed to the interested Governments the date of October 14th for the meeting of the Experts to have charge to study the repartition of payments according to the Dawes Plan. The French Government found that date too near in order to be able to collect the necessary information for the discussion, so [Page 64] the French Government proposed that the date of the meeting be postponed to October 27th.”
