Advise the President confidentially that this Government will greatly appreciate it if recognition by Cuba of the present Government of Mexico should be made coincident with recognition by the United States.

A copy of the statement issued to the press by this Department on June 7,50 regarding the relations between the United States and Mexico, will be transmitted to you by the next mail for your information and for that of Dr. Zayas.
