2271. Your assurances in regard to the Prinses Juliana, as referred to in your 1070, March 29, and 1073, March 30,1 are negatived by a semiofficial report in the papers this morning that this steamer has been seized at Hongkong. Grave doubt is thus cast, not perhaps on the good faith, but certainly on the value of our assurances. May I deny this report before it goes any further?
