[Telegram]

697. Referring your 1850, January 23, 2 p.m., following delivered today by War Trade Board to Danish Minister, Washington:

It seems wise, in order to avoid the possibility of future misunderstanding, to say to Your Excellency that, in case our countries are fortunate enough to reach an agreement, the conditions in our letter of January 16 [17], respecting Denmark’s export to the Central Powers of butter, bacon, fish, cattle, and horses will be held by us to apply as of and from the date of our said letter.
