File No. 658.119/724
The Chargé in Great Britain ( Laughlin) to the Secretary of State
[Received 6.30 p.m.]
4446. War Trade Board [from Sheldon]:
No. 2032. Your 1774, Department’s 3225, December 4, 8 p.m. I note as per last paragraph that you are sending copies of letters to the British and French Embassies which furnish details with reference to American participation in the purchase of molybdenum from Norway and iron ore from Sweden. In your 1502, Department’s 2440, October 25 [26], last sentence, you stated that you were preparing a plan for handling resales of Swedish ore which you would submit to me shortly. I have never received this and pending its arrival I have never executed any agreement authorized in your 1444, Department’s 2079 [2279], October 18. If the letters exchanged between you and the British and French Embassies have not concretely covered our engagement concerning the purchase of Swedish ores and the plan for handling resales, please send me the plan for resales mentioned in your 1502 so that the whole matter may be arranged without further delay.
