The Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs ( Hellner) to the Secretary of State

Sir: I hereby have the honour to bring to Your Excellency’s notice that His Majesty’s Government have decided to send Mr. A. R. Nordvall [Page 1281] to Washington in the capacity of a commissioner of His Majesty’s Government to the United States of America.
As Your Excellency would remember, my predecessor in the office of Minister for Foreign Affairs had the advantage to introduce Mr. Nordvall to Your Excellency on the occasion of the latter’s visit to Washington as a delegate of His Majesty’s Government for certain commercial negotiations.
Mr. Nordvall is now proceeding to the United States with a commission to organize the purchase of goods for export to Sweden in conformity with the recently signed general agreement between Sweden and the United States and their allies and to negotiate for the granting of licences for facilitating the export of such goods and to deal with other matters in connection therewith.
I allow myself to take this opportunity of saying that His Majesty’s Government would feel most particularly obliged, if also on this occasion Your Excellency would extend to Mr. Nordvall the same kindness and courtesy as was continuously shown him on his previous visit to the United States.
