[Telegram]

5714. War Trade Board [from Stetson]:

No. 566. Referring Department’s 5937, October 17, your No. 383.1 We are advised by His Britannic Majesty’s delegate, Paris, that (1) British Government will not make a more definite reply to Spanish note protesting against the black lists than that already made, (2) it is therefore not necessary to ask you to say anything to the Spanish Government at the moment, and (3) that the matter can be dropped unless further action is taken by the Spanish Government. We would appreciate being kept informed when any protest is received by you and, if so, what answer you make. Stetson.
