Sir: The Department refers to your cablegram dated April 20, 1918,1 requesting information as to whether the firms on the British statutory list are to be considered as allies of the enemy in the event such firms do not fall within the definition of the Trading with the Enemy Act, and informs you that this question has been settled by the publication of the new unified list, in which list all firms on the British statutory list which may properly appear upon the enemy trading list of the United States have been published and those not within the statute of the United States have been eliminated by the British from the statutory list.
