2509. Your 3206, December 9. Metz has obtained permits from British Government for uninterrupted shipment large quantity of salvarsan and neosalvarsan. Request export permission on humanitarian grounds.1 Novocaine still under consideration by British Government. You will be informed if decision favorable.2

  1. The German Government did not express itself satisfied with the guaranties proposed until April 6, 1916, when the Ambassador in Germany, in telegram No. 3718, reported that the export permit had been granted (File No. 300.115/7836).
  2. On January 20, 1916, in his telegram No. 3607, the Ambassador in Great Britain reported that permission had been granted for passage of a six months’ supply of novocaine under the same conditions as for salvarsan (File No. 300.115/6713).
