The Acting Secretary of State presents his compliments to the Spanish minister and has the honor to acknowledge, with thanks, the receipt of the minister’s note of the 1st instant, with which is inclosed an account of the sitting held by the Spanish Senate on the 15th ultimo, at which sitting the Government was questioned by Señor Ortiz de Pinedo, senator for the Island of Cuba, as to the observance by the United States of its neutrality laws.
The Acting Secretary of State has read with pleasure the deserved tribute paid by the Duke of Tetuan to the impartial friendliness of this Government.
