Mr. Taylor to Mr. Gresham.

Madrid, March 25, 1895.

Minister for foreign affairs said he was not in condition to speak of affairs of the department of which he had been in charge only one day; [Page 1180] but he promised to consider Alliança incident before everything, assuring me of his desire and hope that it will receive solution equal to his interest to maintain reciprocal friendship and consideration existing between the two nations.
