Mr. Uhl to Baron
Fava.
Department of State,
Washington, March 20,
1895.
My Dear Baron: I take pleasure in inclosing,
for your further information in regard to the Walsenburg affair, copy of
a telegram received from Governor McIntire last evening.
Very truly, yours,
Edwin F. Uhl,
Acting Secretary.
[Inclosure—Telegram.]
Governor McIntire
to Mr. Uhl.
Denver, Colo., March 19, 1895.
Acting Italian consul returned last night from Walsenburg. Called on
me this morning. Expressed himself satisfied with course of
authorities there. It is certain that Vittone and Ronchietto had
taken out first papers. Lorenzo Andinino, heretofore

called Danino, is probably not an
American citizen, but may be. Giacobino, who escaped from first
attack, is safe; feet badly frosted. Gobetto is believed to be safe
also. These two men, as I am informed, took out first papers.
Albert W. McIntire, Governor.
