Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your note of the 25th instant announcing the death in this city on that date of Baron de Aguiar de Andrada, chief of the Brazilian special mission to the United States.

It is with deep regret that I receive this information, and I beg to express the sincere sympathy felt by the President in the death of this distinguished citizen of Brazil.
