Mr. Thompson reports the departure of the Government fleet from Bahia on the preceding night and the renewal of martial law. He transmits the news sent by the Brazilian minister at Montevideo of a victory gained in Parana by Gen. Hippolyto, who defeated a force of 500 rebels commanded by Gen. David, the latter losing 60 men killed and a large quantity of arms and ammunition. He announces the election, by a large majority, of Drs. Prudente de Moraes and Manoel Victorina Pariera as President and vice-president, respectively. The vote was small and the elections quiet.
