Sir: I have had the honor to receive your note of the 12th instant, in which you refer to my note of the 3d ultimo, touching the incursions of the Chiricahua Indians into Mexican territory, and express a desire to receive the letter of the Secretary of War on the subject, which I then told you would be sent to you when received here. In reply I have pleasure in renewing my promise to communicate to you the foreshadowed reply of the Secretary of War so soon as I shall receive it.
