Sir: I have received your No. 389 of the 18th ultimo, touching the probable repeal of the law fixing a tax of one per cent. for consular visas. The information contained in Mr. Laforestrie’s private note to you of the 15th June is acceptable, and I trust that the wise resolution of the Haytian Government to procure the abolition of this obnoxious tax will be speedily accomplished.
