No. 373.
Mr. Drummond to Mr. Blaine.

Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your note to me of the 25th instant, respecting an incursion of Canadian Indians in the neighborhood of Belknap, Montana Territory, and their raiding the United States agency reservation, and in which you express your surprise and regret that such should have taken place after the measure which had been taken by Her Majesty’s Government to prevent the recurrence of these incursions.

You also invite me to call the attention of Her Majesty’s Government to the facts which you furnish me within your note.

I have the honor to state that I shall carry out your wishes by the first mail, and that I have this day transmitted a copy of your dispatch to the honorable the deputy governor of Canada.

I have, &c.,

VICTOR DRUMMOND.
