Sir: Admiral Prevost arrived yesterday from London with the second and definitive statement of the British Government on pur boundary question, which Mr. Odo Russell, the British Embassador at Berlin, transmitted to the Foreign Office [Page 261] yesterday, furnishing me with a copy of it late last evening. I have at once this morning presented the American reply to the Prince of Bismarck, and have furnished the British Embassador with copies of it.Rep1ies of the United States and Great Britain delivered.

Admiral Prevost tells me that he intends to remain here until the Imperial Arbitrator shall have rendered his decision.

The mail of to-morrow from Hamburg will take to you a copy of this second British statement, as well as copies of the paper which I have submitted in behalf of the United States.
