Neufchatel,

manifesto.
The following resolution was spontaneously passed at a public meeting of 600 Swiss citizens, held in the Vuille brewery, Neufchatel, on the 6th of May, 1865:
- “In view of the great sorrow now oppressing the American people, the citizens present at this meeting declare that they feel profound indignation and exceeding grief at the news of the atrocious act that brought death to Abraham Lincoln, the excellent President of the United States.
- “This manifestation shall be communicated to the Federal Council for transmission to the proper authorities abroad.”
