Mr. Seward to Mr. Campbell

No. 13.]

Sir: Your despatch of the 12th of January, No. 12, has been received.

In order to make the request of a friendly state as widely known as possible throughout this country, the President has communicated to Congress a copy of your despatch and its accompaniments, relative to the proposed international exhibition to be held at Bergen, in Norway, during the coming summer.

The subject, as well on account of its novelty as its general importance, will no doubt attract the attention here which it so eminently deserves.

I am, sir, your obedient servant,

WILLIAM H. SEWARD.

James H. Campbell, Esq., &c., &c., Stockholm.
