Sir: At the request of the mayor of Liverpool, England, I have the honor to transmit to you letters addressed to Mrs. Lincoln and Mrs. Seward, containing copies of a resolution which was passed at a public meeting of the inhabitants of [Page 155] the borough of Liverpool, on receipt of the news of the assassination of the President of the United States, and of the attempts on the lives of the honorable William H. Seward and Mr. Frederick Seward.
I beg you to be so good as to cause these letters to be conveyed to their respective destinations
