CINCFE in C 61736 April 42 has informed Department Army (1) serious consequences US and UN could result from active opposition ROK Government to further armistice negotiations or agreements (2) possible course action their part could include (a) withdrawal ROK representatives UNC armistice delegation or (b) at worst attempt withdraw elements ROK Army from UN control and remove ROK Government officials from UN influence (3) plans at hand to meet emergency arising from latter contingency and all probable contingencies are under continuing study. CINCUNC recommends [Page 879] State take appropriate action influence ROK Government conform UN actions.
