Editorial Note
On April 21, 1953, Ambassador Douglas Dillon at Paris wrote a brief note to Under Secretary of State Walter Bedell Smith discussing Cohn’s and Schine’s return visit to France. In the letter, Ambassador Dillon stated, in part, that “some information on budgets” was given to Cohn, and that he “was critical of the operation in Germany, particularly of the spending of money to finance overtly the publication of a newspaper.” (711.52/4–2153)
