1038. ReDeptels 1028 to Nanking and 1727 to Shanghai Aug 26.⁴⁹ It is Dept’s intention and hope Emb and ConGen can arrange for all departing personnel use first available transportation. Every effort shld be made get personnel departing aboard Gordon. If Dept has not issued trans orders for personnel transferring, Nanking shld issue evacuation TO’s and inform Dept nr, date, names of employees and families and destination evacuation TO’s.
