The Secretary of State to the Embassy in the Philippines
1008. Pls transmit fol message to Romulo from Jessup:
“I have only just now recd your ltr of Aug 9, 1949 concerning the proposed Southeast Asian Assoc. I had previously recd the telegraphic msg which you were kind enough to send to Butterworth and me through the Amer Emb in Manila. You will by now I am sure have recd our reply which I believe answers questions and suggestions made in your ltr to me.
All I can add at the moment is the reassurance that we will continue to follow the development of this project with the most sympathetic interest and that we have every desire to be helpful within feasible limits and under present circumstances.
I understand that you will be back in the United States before long and I am looking forward to seeing you.”
