Editorial Note

On June 13, 1949, the United States and the Republic of Korea signed at Seoul an agreement covering claims for electric power whereby the United States transferred to the Republic goods, credits, and funds which had been set aside by the United States Government [Page 1044] for the settlement of claims arising from the delivery to South Korea of electric power from facilities in North Korea during the period from August 16, 1945, to May 14, 1948. In return for the transfer of goods, credits, and funds, the Republic of Korea agreed to assume responsibility for the settlement of any claims arising from the delivery of the electric power.

The treaty entered into force on December 28, 1949. The text is printed as TIAS No. 4026 in United States Treaties and Other International Agreements (UST), volume 9, page 509.
