The determination of Premier Schuman, Finance Minister Mayer and other Cabinet members to bring about currency stabilization and financial reform through parliamentary action stems in large measure from their realization that without it ERP cannot achieve the ends it should achieve, and that it is essential if long-term American aid is to be voted. I have sought every opportunity to strengthen them in this resolve in the same manner as I have harped upon the necessity of arriving at adjustments of wages and prices problem (mytel 5594 December 29).2
