1044. For Lovett. Although outstanding instructions prohibit sale US tactical aircraft Argentina, British, Italian, Canadian tactical aircraft being sold here. Representative North American Aviation states Argentina interested purchase 66 overhauled surplus B–25 bombers. Our unilateral action is ineffective and believe prejudicial US interest. My understanding in Washington was ban had been lifted subject limitations military regulations governing sale aircraft. Please advise.
