The Ambassador in China (Stuart) to the Secretary of State

493. Commander 7th Fleet,20 as Dept is aware, has recently returned to Tsingtao from consultation in Washington and plans to come to Nanking Thursday, March 13, to discuss a number of matters with the Embassy. Embassy understands from 7th Fleet liaison officer stationed Nanking that discussions will, among other things, be concerned with the following matters on which decisions have been reached in consultation with the Dept during Admiral Cooke’s stay in Washington:

1.
Activation of the NAG.
2.
Lend-lease and Public Law 512 ships.
3.
Evacuation of Marines.

Embassy urgently requests requisite info well before Thursday.
