749. Coverage by Embassy in its recent telegrams over-all situation China, Manchuria, student unrest and Sinkiang has been great assistance to Dept in following developments. Dept wishes commend Embassy for high calibre its reporting, particularly telegrams nos. 1100 May 20, 1134 May 24,69 1180 May 29, 1235 June 7 and 1284 June 12.70 Changchun and Mukden also to be commended for reporting Manchurian situation.
In this connection Dept would welcome Embassy’s analysis (proposed in Embassy’s 1180 May 29) course of action open to US in light probable developments.
