The Chargé in the Soviet Union (Durbrow) to the Secretary of State

3202. Printed document has been received by British Embassy here from London containing report of British Ambassador at Nanking regarding conversation with Chou En-lai, Communist representative [Page 46] at Nanking. Chou reportedly complained to Ambassador of American interference in China and support of KMT.

He was said to have suggested that Ambassador recommend to Bevin48 that Bevin and Molotov49 call Byrnes to account for violation of Moscow Foreign Ministers Agreement on China.50
