4218. I conveyed to the Prime Minister the information in your 2930 of April 14 concerning the protection of the Rumanian Royal Family. Mr. Churchill has now informed me that he feels shelter should not be denied the King and Queen if they should seek it, and that the British representatives in Bucharest have been instructed to give them sanctuary if it is requested. He feels deeply on this subject.
