ReEmbs 1198, April 16, 7 p.m. Please inform Vyshinski that this Government is very much disturbed by the indication that the Soviet Government is considering the conclusion of a treaty of mutual assistance with the governmental authority now functioning in Poland and also inform him that it is therefore requested that any action be deferred until this Government has had an opportunity to present its views to Mr. Molotov.51

For your information: I have discussed this matter with Mr. Eden today, and he is sending similar instructions to the British Embassy in Moscow.
