The Acting Secretary of State to the Ambassador in China (Gauss)
1010. 1. Department is gratified to learn from your 1235, July 18, 10 a.m., that Minister of Economic Affairs has agreed to extend period of registration until the end of this year.
2. With reference to Embassy’s request for information in regard to our registration requirements in the United States for foreign corporations and the legal requirements in other countries, National Foreign Trade Council in a further memorandum regarding Chinese registration touches on the subject of requirements in this country and cites pertinent provisions of Delaware corporation law. The memorandum in question has been forwarded to you31 and Department will endeavor to forward other pertinent information on this subject in the near future.
3. With reference to your suggestion that during visit of Dr. Kung in the United States the dissatisfaction of American interests with Chinese laws and regulations should be brought to his attention, Department understands that the National Foreign Trade Council and the China–America Council of Commerce and Industry propose to bring this problem and related problems to Dr. Kung’s attention.
