Announced today that Kung succeeds Soong as Chairman of Bank of China Board, Naval Attaché reports that Soong had told him that in this contingency he would give up Foreign Office portfolio and [Page 330] CDS53 and that Wei Tao-ming was being considered for Foreign Office although no decision had been made. Kung’s election said to be move to increase Government control of banking.
