The Ambassador in the Soviet Union (Harriman) to the Secretary of State

1280. Pursuant to the Department’s 861, April 10, 8 p.m. a note was sent to Molotov96 on April 12 requesting Soviet support of the steps which we and the British were taking in Stockholm.

The British Embassy advises that in response to its request for Soviet support Mikoyan97 stated that the representative in Stockholm of the Commissariat for Foreign Trade had been instructed to inform SKF that the Soviet Government was opposed to any further exports of Swedish ballbearings to Germany.

Sent to Department, repeated to London.
