435. Your 647, September 22. If the eventuality to which you refer50 should arise you are authorized to disburse against promissory note minimum cost of transportation to British India and of initial cost of hospitalization. You should follow the form of promissory note being used by Smith on the Gripsholm and should charge the expenditures to Authorization 15, 1943–44. You should furthermore telegraph Department name of passenger affected, approximate cost of transportation, hospitalization and other anticipated expenses, indicating name and address of person or organization in United States which should be asked to deposit with the Department funds for the purpose.
